I am getting this Application event error every day at midnight
Event Type: Error
Event Source: PGMailServer.exe
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 2/5/2008
Time: 12:00:16 AM
User: N/A
Computer: PAGEGATE
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( PGMailServer.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Access violation at address 004BE2C7 in module 'PGMailServer.exe'. Read of address 00000000.
Also, the Pagegate software appears to just stop occasionally and has to be restarted. Sometimes, the server has to be rebooted.
We are running Windows 2000 servier with all the current updates, Pagegate 5.0.6 on a p4 2.8 processor and 1 GB of ram.
Any thoughts on this?

I searched the forum on this issue and found one other reference to this exact same issue, but no response on it either. I have had complaints of missed and delayed pages as well as emails not forwarding.
Has anyone else seen or resolved this issue?

I've seen this issue occasionally pop up but the solutiosn generally tend to vary, so there's no one solution I can offer. I can, however, let you know what the most common solution was.
Most times, it was caused by one of two things:
1) The PGMailServer.exe and PGGMail.exe files weren't included in the DEP.
2) The PGMailServer Service didn't properly install.
The first is relatively easy to fix, all you have to do is go into the DEP settings on your OS and make sure that both executables are excepted.
The second involves a little command prompt work:
1) Open a command prompt.
2) Change directory into the PageGate Program directory.
3) Type in the following command and hit enter:
pgmailserver /uninstall
4) Open the Services list in Windows to verify the PGMailServer service has been removed.
5) Go back to the command prompt, type the following, and hit enter:
pgmailserver /reinstall
6) Go back into the Services list and verify that the PGMailServer service has been recreated.
7) Right click on the Service and tell it start.
