Hello, we would like to have Notepager Pro on 3 computers, currently our E911 center is the only one with current information, the other two computers are laptops used for remote, mobile disasters. What file would I need to both backup all our counties information and install over in the laptops so we do not have to duplicate about 300 entries. I would like both settings and pager info.

The easiest way to do it would be to make a backup of the npp.mdb file in the NotePager Pro directory. That database contains all of the configuration, carrier, recipient, and group information for the program.

And then just replace that file on each laptop. I am also having issues setting up AT&T sms all of our systems use an always on connection what would be the best way to set that up?

Right, just replace the file on each laptop.

As for AT&T, I'd recommend setting up an SMTP carrier and using the 10digitnumber@txt.att.net

Ah, it's letting you know there's no DNS configured. Here's how to find out your DNS:

1) In Windows, go to Start - Run.

2) Type in the following and click on OK: command

3) In the command prompt, type the following and hit enter: ipconfig /all

4) In the large list of information that shows up, you should see DNS Servers. Write down those number sequences.

5) Go into NotePager Pro.

6) Go to Carriers - Edit.

7) Highlight your carrier and click on Edit.

8) Enter in the DNS numbers you wrote down in step 4 in DNS 1 and DNS 2.

9) Click on Apply.

Excellent that worked :)

Now it works that has raised more questions, on our laptops we use an EVDO PCMCIA card for internet access each time we "go live" with our laptops will we need to update the DNS info correct.

and, is there anyway we can include information so that a reply could return to my cell phone, I understand Notepager does not support two way communication, but if I sent a message via Notepager then my receiving party could just hit reply and it would send to my cell phone is that possible?

Right, different networks have different DNS numbers, so you would need to update the DNS if you change network connections.

As for the reply message, well... that really depends. That part might be easier to discuss over the phone, so if you would, email your contact information to support at notepage dot com

Given the way you have implemented your solution, you may want to consider upgrading to PageGate. PageGate is a network based version that utilises a client-server philosphy. The PageGate Server and database run on the network and each PC that needs to be able to send messages runs a PageGate client. This way, you only need to maintain a single database and any changes made (additional carriers, recipients, groups, etc) will instantly be available to all clients. For your cruiser laptops, the client is connected to the database whenever your network connection through the PCMCIA card is up. This solution is used extensively in Public Safety applications. Feel free to contace NotePage, Inc. sales or myself directly if you have further questions

I will bring that suggestion to the "powers to be" will see how that works out, like most things around here "ifin it aint broke don't fix it" is the primary philosophy in this backwoods county. However, through attrition somethings are becoming more and more progressive.

An Issue that has occurred after a reinstall our registration key no longer works? I downloaded the latest from the web site for the install, should I remove that and use the disk?

The only reason the registration shouldn't work is if you installed a different version than you're registered for. What version did you install and what version is your registration for?
