|
|
My customer who I am supporting is running PageGate 5.0. They have 1 connector license. When I installed the product I was unable to get Connector 1 to run. I was able to get Connector 2 working and the product is running fine for 3 - 4 days. At that point the connector shuts down. The log shows that the Evaluation Version time has expired. I am only running the 1 connector, but it is #2 and it seems to me the license thinks I am running 2 connectors. I need to know how to "tell" the applicaton that I am using just 1 licensed connector. I am running PageGate as a service and only Connector 2 shows up in the services list.

The first thing I'd like to check is what build of PageGate v5 you (and they) are running. If you would, browse to the pagegate.exe file and go into the properties. Then go under the version tab and let me know what it says there.

The first thing I'd like to do is have you update to build 5.0.0.6 - we've made a few fixes and modifications to the way the Connectors are configured in v5 between builds 5 and 6:
1) On your existing installation of PageGate, browse to your database directory and make a backup copy of the pagegate.mdb file (to disk, to CD, to your desktop, whichever way will be easiest for retrieval
later).
2) Once you have a copy of the pagegate.mdb file, uninstall version 5 of PageGate. When you're prompted, select the complete uninstallation option.
3) Download the latest PageGate installation file from our website (http://www.notepage.net - Click on the download button under the PageGate section and save the pgsetup.exe file to your desktop).
4) Run the pgsetup.exe file you've just downloaded.
5) When it asks which installation you wish to run, select the PageGate Server option.
6) Unless you need to change the installation directory, you can really just click next through the entire routine until it finishes.
7) Now that we have the updated build installed, go to your start menu and run the PageGate Admin.
8) Click on Apply when it prompts you for the options and modules unless you need to specify a different location for the database, logging, or archive directories. If you need to specify different
directories, do so, then click on Apply.
9) You should get a message saying that a new database has been created and PageGate must be restarted. Before you start the Admin again, take that copy of the pagegate.mdb file we made and put it in
the new Pagegate directory.
10) It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file, say yes.
11) Run the PageGate Admin again.
12) It should notify you that the database needs to be converted and that PageGate needs to be restarted. After it does this, run the PageGate Admin again.
13) Go to the Registration section and verify that your version 5 registration information is still there.

If you would, please email your contact information to support at notepage dot com - I'd like to go over a few things with you and it would be easier to do it over the phone.

Thanks for your telephone support this afternoon. After we hung up I restored the database, set the GetASCI to start and started the applicaiton. Everything (including Connector1) started correctly. I next shut down the server and changed the applicaiton to run as a service. I then strated the applicaton and everything started correclty. I put in a test call and all pages were sent correctly via Connector 1.
This call can be closed - again thanks for the prompt support.
P.S. - I notcied that when the services were created only the PageGate servicd was set to stasrt automatically. The other three were set to start manually. Is this correct? I have set all of them to start automatically after reboot but would like you to confirm that this is correct.
Thanks.

The PageGate service is the only one that should be set to Automatic - the rest should be set to Manual. PageGate has a very particular startup order that's kicked off by the PageGate Server service.
