Can I setup the GetAscii Interface (configured Advanced Polling Files recipient to be ad-hoc) to work with ad-hoc recipients? I have a program that can write a capcode and a message to an ASCII file. Can I configure GetAscii to scan that file for the cap code and not the recipient?

I currently have the advanced polling files file type set to "adding". When the file changes, I noticed a samename.ptr file is created which indicates that the GetAscii interface has searched/processed the file? However, there is no information in the log for that interface. No other log file indicates whether or not the message was processed. I know for a fact it has not been processed successfully (no page received, and no dialer log), but was looking for any information to help troubleshoot.

Thanks[/code]

Short answer: Yes

getASCII is an optional module that must be purchased

AdHoc is a feature that is available with licenses of 5000 recipients or greater

I know I have the correct licensing in place. I need some assistance configuring the GetAscii interface.

I have a piece of software that writes a capcode and a message to a file. The contents of the file look like this:

13145467~Message Text Here \09 (Vertical Tab)

I have the polling directory set to a folder on the PageGate server's local hard drive, where the other software writes the file. I have the filename configured under the "advanced polling files" box with the "file type" set to "adding". I have the "single character wildcard" set to ?, the multiple character wildcard set to *, the end of record symbol set to | and the ascii value delimter set to \. Under the "Record" setting, I have the start pattern set to 131 (which is what every one of my cap codes starts with) with an offset of 1, and the end pattern set to \09 (Vertical Tab). Under the "Recipient" setting, I have the static recipient button selected with an ad-hoc user identified in the recipient box.

The GetAscii module does not seem to "see" the pages. There is no information or errors in the GetAscii logfile. I'm I must have a misconfiguration.

If I want to use the GetAscii module to scan a file for updated messages and send them to a dynamic recipient, is there something wrong with my above configuration? Should I select dynamic recipient under the Recipient settings?

Any help is appreciated.
