Page Gate, v4 - has been installed and working for a couple years now without issue. recently we have noticed that it seems to be holding all pages as we found 250 pages in the queue.

We have looked over the forum and performed a couple of suggestions however no luck. At this point we have:

Uninstalled the full program
Rebooted the server
Downloaded the 4.0.9 install listed in forum
Reinstalled the server, client, monitor and admin programs
Rebooted the server
Loaded admin, created the new DB, imported the information back.
At this point we try to change from application start to nt service start. A barely visible popup shows "settings changed" yet no new services are created.

At this point we are stuck and down.

How do we create these service manually?
How do we proceed from here?

Don

Don,

The first thing I'd recommend doing is removing the additional admin and monitor from the system running the PageGate Server. The Server install installs the server copy of the admin and monitor. Having the workstation and server admins running on the same system can cause problems.

After you uninstall the additional admin, run the PageGate Admin out of the PageGate program group. Once you do that, try to switch the run style again and this time it should prompt you for credentials, then allow the services to be created.

You may also want to upgrade from PageGate v4 to v5 for $100.00. Download a free evaluation of PageGate v5 software (2 recipients enabled and restart every 3-5 days), upgrade instructions and new features are listed at http://www.notepage.net/pagegate-v5.htm

I can understand an upgrade but this is a server in place for over 2 years, 2 recipients enabled won't do well in this case since there are over 70 entered.

I have purchased the upgrade, fyi.

I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled again. Before I imported anything I switched it to NT Service. Looked ok on the changes however the service gives an error, delay responce in starting, etc and stops. I've decided to switch it back to standard app, imported the users and connectors, etc. Right clicked a user and sent a test page. It's still sitting in the pending queue, so this is the same issue I had before.

I have just purchased the V5 Upgrade and now waiting on the information but what direction should we go? I don't mind uninstalling v4 and doing v5 install but if that doesn't work, what are some trouble shooting steps to proceed with?
Thanks,
Don

Since the upgrade has been purchased you may want to wait for the upgraded electronic Registration Key, which will be emailed with 24 hours.

PageGate v5's new features and capabilities can also be viewed and accessed by downloading the free evaluation onto a separate stand-alone computer (if convenient and possible) at http://www.notepage.net/pagegate-v5.htm

Just to clarify, are you going from version 4 to version 5 or from version 5 to version 4?

You don't actually want to do the import/export when converting. What you'll want to do is take the version 4 database and drop it into the version 5 database directory. Then run the PageGate version 5 Admin and it'll upgrade the database for you.

Ok, I see now. :) I always thought you had to export but the database holds all this, duh.. :)

NOW, about the updates on the client side. Can an inplace upgrade be accomplished or do we have to do the uninstall/reinstall for each?

You can just install the version 5 client overtop of the version 4 client without any issues.

Spoke too soon, when I brought the original database in and allow an upgrade, it brought in the queue from the previous system. We have 256 pending pages listed.

How do I flush this?
