Hi all

In PG Admin, if I klick on "Settings" in Interfaces - GetMail:
Full error message:
Code:
Excessive database errors: 3219 Invalid operation. in Procedure: edit_getmail load Program Halted
After clicking OK, the program is closed, and I have to restart it

The same occured on Connectors - Global if I click on "SMTP" (in Procedure: frmGlobalSMTP)

We have upgraded from PG 4 to PG 5 last week, and the error occured since then.
We are located in Switzerland and have regional settings Switzerland, keyboard Layout Swiss-German. (Maybe it has something to do with the codepages?)

Anyone has an idea, what this could be? or how this can be overcome

Best regards
Jimmy

In regards to both this and the umlauts, It would be good if we could get a copy of your database. It would help determine if the characters in question are being dropped when PG accepts the messages in, or if they are being dropped on the way out.

No sir, we never actually received the database? After we didn't hear from you, I thought the issue had either resolved itself or it was no longer an issue. Please resent to support at notepage dot com and CC it to jeremy at notepage dot com

The developement team has released a new build of PageGate that should take care of this issue. Here is how to update your build of PageGate:

1) On your existing installation of PageGate, browse to your database directory and make a backup copy of the pagegate.mdb file (to disk, to CD, to your desktop, whichever way will be easiest for retrieval
later).

2) Once you have a copy of the pagegate.mdb file, uninstall version 5 of PageGate. When you're prompted, select the complete uninstallation option.

3) Download the latest PageGate installation file from our website (http://www.notepage.net - Click on the download button under the PageGate section and save the pgsetup.exe file to your desktop).

4) Run the pgsetup.exe file you've just downloaded.

5) When it asks which installation you wish to run, select the PageGate Server option.

6) Unless you need to change the installation directory, you can really just click next through the entire routine until it finishes.

7) Now that we have the updated build installed, go to your start menu and run the PageGate Admin.

8) Click on Apply when it prompts you for the options and modules unless you need to specify a different location for the database, logging, or archive directories. If you need to specify different
directories, do so, then click on Apply.

9) You should get a message saying that a new database has been created and PageGate must be restarted. Before you start the Admin again, take that copy of the pagegate.mdb file we made and put it in
the new Pagegate directory.

10) It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file, say yes.

11) Run the PageGate Admin again.

12) It should notify you that the database needs to be converted and that PageGate needs to be restarted. After it does this, run the PageGate Admin again.

13) Go to the Registration section and verify that your version 5 registration information is still there.

Hello

I did as documented in the post above.
Still the same behaviour.
I also tried out the following:

  • shutted down PageGate
  • rename my pagegate.mdb to pageagate_bak.mdb and copied the pagegate__orig$.mdb to pagegate.mdb to get a virgin PageGate DB
  • started PageGate again so I received a proper new PageGate as it i, when it is delivered (or wasn't?)

Same behaviour

So I restored all and rerun PageGate.

Best Regards
Jimmy

Bob - what build of PageGate 5 are you using? To check, browse into the PageGate directory on your hard drive, go into the properties of the pagegate.exe file, then go under the Version tab.

We've just recently solved this particular problem and haven't integrated the patch into the installation file, yet, so here is how to get a patch that will fix this issue:

1) Download this update:

http://www.notepage.net/support/adminupdate.zip

2) Stop the PageGate server.

3) Close the Admin, Monitor, and Client. Basically, we want NO part of PageGate running when we do the update.

4) Extract the zip file directly into your PageGate program directory and overwrite any files it asks you to.

5) Run the PageGate Admin again.

6) Try to access the settings screens.
