I am using a Motorola Advisor Elite from USAMOBILITY, and they do have valid TAP numbers to dial in to, but I am bewildered as to what they are asking for as far as a PIN number is concerned. All documentation points to the ten digit pager number, but there is also reference to a 7 digit pin #. Any ideas/experience will be appreciated.
thanks!

Thanks, so are there folks out there using this with USAMobility (formerly Metrocall) pagers? If so, I'd love to see the settings they're using. I'm not having much luck.

MetroCall devices are now on the legacy Arch system (remember - Metrocall and Arch merged to become USAMobility)
PROTOCOL: WCTP
ID: 10 digit pager#
HOST: wctp.arch.com/wctp
PORT: 80
LIMIT: 120
many of our Public Safety installations around the country use this as the primary method with dialup TAP as a failover_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Thanks, The system I'm working with does not have any network access so I'm limited to TAP. Any suggestions on TAP settings?

We have a list of available TAP terminals that we know of on our website:
http://www.notepage.net/support.htm
The Metrocall terminals can be located, specifically, here:
http://www.notepage.net/tap-phone-numbers-m.htm
As for the ID/PIN, tt depends on whether you're using a local TAP Terminal or one of their 'national' terminals. Local Terminals use a 7 digit number scheme, the national terminals use a 10 digit number scheme for the ID/PIN numbers.

Aaron, your last message triggered it for me. We had a local metrocall TAP # we were using but no one had ever associated that number with USAMOBILITY. I used the Metrocall Carrier setup we already had in place, stripped off the area code from the pager # and used that for the PIN #, and it worked great. Thanks for your help!
