I keep getting an "550 Invalid Pager ID" error when trying to send SNPP to ATT&T. According to the log, PageGate is connecting and sending, but is getting rejected with this error.

I know the number is good because we have an old copy of NotePager Pro that is paging over a POTS line to that number.

Any ideas????

"Invalid ID" indicates that the host you are connecting to does not have that particular device provisioned to accept messages via SNPP. Since you specifically mention ATT Wireless - you must first ensure that the receiving device has been provisioned for "Enterprise Paging". YOu can do this from the ATT Wireless self provisioning site at www.enterprisepaging.com

So, AT&T wants us to pay them for a service that just about every other mobil company provides as a free service? Great. Got to love big buisness.

Actually - there are no "FREE" services - most of the other carriers have adopted some sort of fee for this service. ATT is the about ONLY cellular carrier that has gone a step further and implemented the far more reliable internet "paging" protocols on the cellular networks (NexTel has had them since it's inception and Verizon Wireless is the last of the major carriers that still supports TAP - the Original Alphanumeric protocol that uses modem communications).

TAKE HOME POINT: Do NOT rely on SMTP for critical messaging. During 9/11 AND Katrina, the "old" legacy one way paging systems were the only communications links that stayed in service
