Good morning,

I sent a similar email to the webmaster to forward to support. I have a client that is using NotePager Pro v3.0. Whenever he launches the app from a non-administrative credentialed account, it wants to setup QuickBooks before NPP will startup. Since the account is not an admin, the QB install fails and I have to click 'ok' two or three times (it wants to launch QB two or three times successively). After that it works fine. Whenever I use NPP with an admin account, it works without a hitch (no QB setup).

Taks Manager and ProcessExplorer both say that both the QucikBooks setup and NotePager are BOTH running under NPP.EXE. QuickBooks 2005-7 are installed on the system as well as an active AV scanner.

Please advise as to how to fix this.

Thanks,

From what I've seen, this is more of a hiccup in Windows as it can happen with any given program. The only way I've found to get it to stop is to uninstall the program, in this case NotePager Pro, and reinstall it. Here's what you'll want to do:

1) Before you uninstall, browse to the c:\program files\notepager pro\ directory on your hard drive.

2) In that directory, you should see a file named npp.mdb - Make a copy of this file on the desktop. This is the NotePager Pro database and it contains all of your carriers, recipients, and setup information.

3) Once you've made a backup of the database, go to Start - Control Panel.

4) Double click on Add/Remove Programs.

5) Highlight NotePager Pro.

6) Click on the Remove button.

7) Once the uninstallation finishes, reboot the computer.

8) After the system comes back up, go to our website: http://www.notepage.net

9) In the center of the page, you'll see a NotePager Pro section. Click on the download button under the NotePager Pro section.

10) Download the notepagerpro.exe file to your desktop.

11) Run the notepagerpro.exe installation file.

12) Click Next until the installation finishes.

13) After the installation is complete but before you run the program again, copy the npp.mdb file back into the c:\program files\notepager pro\ directory.

Once you do that, the next time you run the program, you shouldn't be prompted to install QuickBooks.

I agree with TECH SUPPORT - I have seen this with many packages on WinXP machines. The only thing I'll add to TECH SUPPORTS excellent instructions is make sure that the reboot after initial uninstall is a COLD boot (complete shut down, then re-start) and not a WARM reboot
