I'm running NotePager Pro 3.0 on two different Windows Server 2003 SP2 boxes both connected to a USRobtics 56K USB Faxmodem (USR5633B). On one box, Connection Monitor is stating "NotePager Pro was unable to talk to your modem. Please check your modem port settings..."; however, the Dialer Log is stating everything was successful and the page does go through. If I am running a test page, I want to be able to see the progress in the connection manager. I switched out the modems, phonelines, etc. and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?

The first thing we need to check is what COM port the modem is attached to. So, if you would, go to your Control Panel and open the Phone and Modem Options. Go under the modems tab and write down what COM port the modem is attached to.

Then, in NotePager Pro, go to Tools - Settings - Modem and make sure the Modem Port matches the COM port.

Yes, we tried that. On one system it is on COM3 and the other is COM4. At first, NotePager Pro was not set to them so we did match the modem port with the COM port.

Actually, I suppose I need to clarify something.

Is the trouble you're running into that when you queue a message, the connection monitor says that it can't access the modem but the message does, in fact, go through? and that if you review the dialer log, you can see it accessing the modem, dialing the carrier, etc?

That is correct.

Also, on this same server, when you review the logs, there are successes and failures. This occurred prior to the new modem. We thought the new modem would correct that issue. The connection monitor was working prior to the new modem. As an FYI, the other server has a success rate every time.

I hate to ask a silly question but you keep mentioning a server. Are you running NotePager Pro or PageGate? The reason I ask is that NotePager Pro is our single user, individual PC program and PageGate is our network based program. I just wanted to make sure that, if you are running NotePager Pro, that you're not sharing it out over the network. If you were, that might cause some really odd things to happen as the program isn't intended to be run that way (or really capable of it).

We have a single box that NotePager Pro is installed on and it works with an application on the same box that calls the executable whenever it needs to send a page through command line (NPP.EXE).
Here is an example:
NPP.exe" nettech ${MESSAGE} ${DateTime}

Where npp is the executable, nettech is the groupname, and the variables are the message being passed from the application.

I am not sure what you mean by "sharing it out over the network".

Okay, that's what I needed to know. I was just making sure that you didn't have multiple workstations on the network trying to access the same installation of NotePager Pro. Having an application on the same box as NotePager Pro pass messages to the program is no problem.

Is there phone support? We have a complicated setup that I need to explain to someone. As I checked the logs just now, I had 99 pending pages that started to go through when I opened the application. We have it setup as a service and need to explain this environment a little more in detail.

If you would, please send a screenshot of the connection monitor along with the npp.log file from your NotePager Pro directory to support at notepage dot com . Also, if you would, please include your phone number in the email and we'll contact you once we've had a chance to review the log file.

We sent the log file. Connection manager is now running fine, so I did not have a screenshot sent.
