Nightly Cleanup Routine Problems

I'm having an issue with the nightly cleanup routine. Most of the time at midnight all of the services show they stopped and started successfully. Sometimes, though, they don't.

For instance, last night at midnight my event logs show the Scheduler service stopped, then nothing else. No other services restarted and the Scheduler service remained stopped. Becasue of this, obviously no messages were sent. When I simply started the Scheduler service, no messages were sent. When I used the Stop then Start commands from the system tray all of the messages that were queued were then scheduled and sent.

It appears that the Scheduler service is the first to stop every night when it works correctly.

The properties on pagegate.exe show File Version-4.0.0.96 and Product Version 4.00.0096 with a Date Modified of 1/24/2007 4:31PM.

I'm not quite sure where else to look for issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
