Attempting to send a Pagegate message to a pager. Log shows sucessfull conneciton to the Paging Client (Archwireless), then "Waiting for protocol initilizatin" then a series of 4 "Sent:<CR>" and finally the modem hangs up. Is seems that there is no data being transmitted from the asci file. Any ideas greatly needed and appreciated.

Based on what you've said, it's not that there isn't any data being transmitted from the ascii file. It's that the modem isn't actually brokering the connection to your Arch Wireless carrier.
If you would, open the PageGate Admin and go into the settings of your Arch Wireless carrier. Let me know what settings you have set there.

Hmmm.. the only thing strange I can see is that the init string is blank for the carrier.
Try resetting the baud rate to 1200 and the init string to (auto), then try to send it out and let's see what happens.

There's something there that doesn't make any sense, though. If you reset the init string to (auto), the program has to go through the process of detecting the init string.
I don't mean to ask a silly question but did you set it to (auto) or a different init string?

What is the specific make and model of the modem you're using?

I assume you are finished for today, I look forward to your reply in the morning so that hopefully we can get this resolved.
Thanks,

Is the TAP terminal phone number correct? I don't recognize that one_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Thier website shows that this is the number for "Universal Access Alpha Subscribers". They show the TAP number to be 800-946-4644. I reset the init string to Auto and changed the telephone number. The modem now calls that number, handshakes and then sends me the string Received <CR><LF>NO CARRIER<CR><LF>
Back to you.

I'll defer to Jeremy at Tech Support for modem troubleshooting, but, is there a reason why you aren't using WCTP to reach the USAMobility pagers (Formerly Arch, Formerly MobilComm)? While TAP is reliable and bulletproof, WCTP is much faster - allowing you to send large volume of messages in a short period of time._________________ Aaron D. Osgood
