I currently have PageGate working with Nextel and AT&T. I tried adding Verizon as a new carrier today. I have tried all of the listed numbers to no avail. I am using 8,n,1 as my settings and I have tried baud rates all the way down to 2400. Below is what I get. Any ideas? As I said before, it is all working perfectly with Nextel and AT&T.

Ken,
When you're connecting to Verizon, set the Baud Rate to 1200, the parity to Even, the Stop Bits to 1, and the Data Bits to 7.
If that doesn't work, please let us know.

Just out of curiosity, when you reset those settings, did you change the init string to (auto)? If not, the initialization string was still trying to use the old settings even though the program was trying to use the new settings.
At least we're making progress, though, as it's actually connecting to the TAP host, it's just not initiating the protocol.

Two things:
1) What is the make and model of the modem you're using and do you have it working with any other TAP based carriers?
2) Try resetting the baud rate to 300 and the init string to auto.

1) It is a US Robotics Sports 28,800 FaxModem. I am successfully sending pages via TAP to Nextel and AT&T subscribers with the modem.

The trouble you're running into is that the your modem is dialing up and connecting with the Verizon TAP Terminal but the connection isn't quite sync'ing. From what I've seen, it has to do with the init string, the modem doesn't quite know exactly how to interpret everything that the Verizon terminal is responding with, hence all of the ?'s that you see in the log.
I'd like you to try something that might seem a little odd.
If you would, go into the settings of one of your other TAP Carriers that uses 1200, e,7,1, and works. Highlight the init string and copy it.
Then go into the settings of your Verizon carrier, set the baud rate to 1200, erase the init string, and paste in the init string from the other carrier.
Apply the change and try to send a test message.

| If you would, please email your PageGate database (located in the PageGate directory, the file named pagegate.mdb), the pagegate.log, pgsched.log, and pgdial1.log files to support at notepage dot com. I'd really like to have a look at exactly how everything is configured and what specifically is showing in the log files with regards to your other carriers.

| I found a Multitech 1432BA external modem on the shelf and replaced the USRobotics this morning. I set the carrier to 2400,e,7,1,auto and it sent a TAP page successfully. I then tested my existing profiles after setting the connection string to auto and they all still work. Looks like my problem is resolved now. I distinctly remember switching to the USRobotics because a Multitech that I was using didn't work though it was a different model of Multitech. Very strange.
