What are the best ways to integrate micromuse netcool with Pagegate to initiate paging?

I understand the easiest way to do this is to create a watch file across the linux to pagegate server via samba. If samba is out of the picture to install on the linux server, what other means can you do this?

If your application can generate an ASCII file and place it where PageGate (with GetASCII interface option enabled) - then it is relatively easily configured to meet your needs

You could "ftp" the file to a location that PageGate's GetAscii interface can access it.

By ftping, is there a possibility that pagegate will send a partial message? I'm not 100% sure but I don't think an ftp actually creates an exclusive file lock. I get this issue on file triggers sometimes.

Try writing the file with a "bogus" extension. Then "ftp" the file and do a rename over the ftp connection, changing the extension to the correct type that you have PageGate looking for.
