I'm using PageGate with GetWeb and I'm a little confused about where to begin.. basically, I want to page 10 people and they can be on any 10 given networks (Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile, Etc)

First, where can I add recipients for PageGate?

Second, do I need to subscribe to a service in order to send SMS's using PageGate? I notice that I can connect to the SNPP servers for other networks and I was thinking maybe PageGate could automatically send to these gateways based on the cell phone number? Or do I need to get a GSM modem? Whats the easiest way to start sending SMS's based on phone number?

I'm a little lost so any clarification will help.

Thank you.

PageGate recipients are added to the database via the PageGate Admin program.

To add a recipient:

Open PageGate Admin
Right click on the "Recipients" object
Select "Add".

You will be presented with a screen on which you can enter/select specific settings for the recipient.

If you want to send messages via GSM, you will need a GSM device ("modem") and service from a provider.

Also, you generally need to know the recipient's Paging / Cell service provider (Carrier). PageGate has to direct the message to the appropriate Carrier.

There is no "central" location to send messages to, regardless of the ID/Pin. Carriers do no support much cross-network SMS, although the implementation of GSM is beginning to change this. This is why messages for "Carrier A" must be delivered to "Carrier A".
