NotePager 32 is freeware, but limits you to sending a text message from your computer, via a dial-up modem, to a single mobile phone or pager.
NotePager Pro, a more advanced version, enables you to send text messages from your computer, via a DSL or cable Internet connection or a dial-up modem to groups of mobile phones with multiple carriers. NotePager Pro is licensed per computer at $29.95 each, an optional CD is $5.00. Comparison chart at http://www.notepage.net/comparison.htm
The recipient's carrier name (ie T-Mobile), protocol and protocol settings need to be entered and selected because text messages are sent from NotePage software, via your computer's modem or Internet connection, to the recipient's carrier. The carrier then broadcasts the message over their wireless network to the recipient's mobile phone. To avoid dial-up charges you may want to enter a local number or a toll free number for T-Mobile and other carriers.
The carrier must support one of the modem protocols TAP, GSM, UCP, TONE or Internet protocols SNPP, WCTP, SMTP. Please contact the carrier for their protocol settings if not at http://www.notepage.net/support.htm
NotePage only provides text messaging software. We do not provide any services, and therefore we do not charge for sending SMS text messages.
To set up NotePager Pro in the menu bar select 'Tools' - 'Wizards' - 'Setup'. Also choose 'Connection', 'Carrier' and 'Recipient'. To send a text message using NotePage software follow the instructions in the online Manual at http://www.notepage.net/support.htm
