Notepage 32 - Orange - UK

I've spoken to Orange in the UK who tell me to dial 0044 797 3100973 for their SMS Centre. I am IN the UK. Putting 0044 followed by the number gives an invalid connection - unrecognised number. Taking off the 0044 and substituting a plain ol' zero still gives me an invalid number

If any UK users are reading this then for info I'm with Telewest, the cable phone company.

My dial-up modem works correctly as I can send faxes.

Can anyone in the UK, please, help me to set up this pesky connection?

How would you manualy dial that number with a regular phone attached to that line?

Do you receive a modem "squeal" if you call it?

Thanks for the reply. Tried what you suggested and still get the message that the number is invalid.

Orange assure me that that is the number to dial. If it were correct I would think that one should hear the "squeal" of the receiving modem?

I suppose I must continue to beat Orange into admitting that perhaps it should be another number.
