|
|
My problem is that I have several users on one computer and when the other users log into the computer and try to use NotePager Pro, an error message comes up stating that the user is not able to access the software. The other users have administrative privileges but they are still not able to use the software. What is your suggestion on how to fix this. Thank you.

What is the exact error message?
Which Operating System?
This sounds like it still may be a directory/files permissions issue. Users need to be able to write to both the directory and the database.
In Windows XP, the Security Tab is not available by default. You will need to display the "Security" tab in order to proceed with steps 5 through 11.
To display the "Security" tab (XP only):
1) Open 'Control Panel'
2) Select 'Folder Options'
3) On the 'View' tab, under "Advanced settings", clear (uncheck) "Use
simple file sharing [Recommended]".
4) "Apply"
(Both XP and 2000)
5) Open Windows Explorer
6) Expand C:\Program Files\
7) Right click on NotePager Pro folder
8) Select the "Security" tab
9) Select "Users" from the "Group or user names" options (window)
10) Select "Full Control" under the "Permissions for Users" option (window)
11) "Apply" |

The message "Engine Not Running" usually means that you are running the main NotePager Pro executable "NPP.exe", but it cannot find and start the file "NPPDial.exe" (the Engine), which is responsible for delivering the messages.
If you are running the program by clicking on a shortcut, it should point to the "NPP.exe" file in the folder "C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro". This can be verified by right clicking on the shortcut, selecting the "Shortcut" tab, and looking at the "Target" path.
The folder "C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro" should also contain the "NPPDial.exe" file.
Occasionally people will drag and drop the actual "NPP.exe" file to the desktop, thinking a shortcut has been created.
If this is the case, you should move/copy the file back into "C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro".
Then create a shortcut pointing to "C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro\NPP.exe" |
