I have setup PageGate 4.0 Admin to use different passwords for master, user, and report access. This works fine on the PageGate server. But when using Admin from a remote workstation, I get master access regardless of which password I enter.
Obviously this defeats the purpose of multi-level access passwords. Any solution?

We are unable to reproduce this issue with the latest file version of PageGate Admin executable (PGAdmin.exe 4.0.0.8).
Can you verify the exact version numbers for EACH PageGate Admin's executable?
On the PageGate Server, the Admin executable is generally "C:\Program Files\PageGate\PGAdmin.exe".
On a remote workstation it is "C:\Program Files\PageGate Admin\PGAdmin.exe"
Right click on each of the files, select "Properties" and go to the "Version" tab.
Also, please verify that the remote PG Admin is pointing to the correct database (directory) on the server and that you are supplying the correct password at each level of access. |

I am using 4.0.0.6 on both client and server.
I have also verified the path to the DB and I can see the correct data (users, groups, etc) when running the admin from either machine. I have verified that I am using different passwords for each level of access.
One thing I do notice is that when running the admin app from a workstation, the main UI pops up behind the password prompt. On the server, the UI is not visible until after the password is entered.
I am running Win 2000 on the server and XP on my workstation.

We are unable to reproduce the issue using the 4.0.0.6 version.
Let's try the latest executable on the Remote PG Admin workstation to see if this resolves the issue.
1.) Rename the existing executable on the workstation to "Old-PGAdmin.exe".
2.) Download a zipped copy of the latest file version from: www.notepage.net/support/pgadmin.zip
3.) Unzip the file and place in the same directory as "Old-PGAdmin.exe".
4.) Run the Remote PG Admin.
Does replacing the executable resolve the issue? |

Ok, I replaced the executable with the new one. I still have the same problem.
Is there any more info I can give on our configurations that would help?

UPDATE:
Customer had installed Additional PageGate Admin on a WinXP development machine which had Visual Studio installed.
When installed on either a Win 2000 /XP without Visual Studio, the password protection in PageGate Admin worked as expected.
Technical Support and the customer will be looking into this further. |
