Hopefully you can help me. I am testing Notepager32 to see if I can switch my company over to it, I currently have the free version just to try it out. I am having difficulty trying to connect to National Pagette in Canada. My existing software is not 100% compatible with WinXP so I am looking for alternatives.

This computer has the following modem:
ESS- ES56H-PI DATA VOICE FAX MODEM

The modem works fine with hyperterminal however this is the error I get when I try to connect with your paging software:
====================================
6/12/2004 12:05:51 PM Start connection to carrier
6/12/2004 12:05:51 PM Connect using TAP protocol
6/12/2004 12:05:51 PM Setting communication parameters

6/12/2004 12:05:55 PM modem reset
6/12/2004 12:05:55 PM Attempting to send init string
6/12/2004 12:06:05 PM Unable to send init string
6/12/2004 12:06:05 PM Dialing carrier
6/12/2004 12:06:13 PM Waiting for connection
6/12/2004 12:06:33 PM Unable to connect to carrier
6/12/2004 12:06:33 PM Attempting to hang up modem
6/12/2004 12:06:36 PM modem hung up
6/12/2004 12:06:54 PM ====================================

I am using the following init string:
ATQ0V1&C1&D2&K0&M0S11=55^M

I copied this from another system with working paging software, I am open to any suggestions you may have.

Please set the Carrier "Init String" to "(auto)" and follow the steps below so that you will have detailed connection (debugging) information into the dialer log (NotePager.log):

1.) Create a empty text file in the folder "C:\Program Files\NotePager 32".
2.) Rename the file to "modem.dbg".

When you change the file name and extension, Windows should warn you about making the file unusable.

3.) Select "Yes".
4.) Send another message.

You can copy and paste the latest attempt at connecting (with the debugging information) in the forum. Please be sure to "X" out any Recipient ID/Pins from the log entries. Also, post the following Carrier information as entered into the software.

Phone Number:
Baud Rate:
Parity:
Data Bits:
Stop Bits:
Init String:
