I recently got a new computer system and reinstalled Notepager 32 onto my new system. When I go to send a message using Notepager, it dials the carrier number and connects to the carrier then starts to send the message but then the modem hangs up and starts to redial again. The result is the same on the redial attempt. On my older system this program worked great, my newer system is using an Intel 536EP modem with dial up connection and I am getting no where. Any suggestion would be great.

Customers using "Intel 536 EP" modems have had some success using the
following initialization strings in the Carrier settings:

At 1200 Baud Rate: AT&FQ0V1X4&D2+MS=V22,0;+ES=1,0,1

At 300 Baud Rate: AT&FQ0V1X4&D2+MS=Bell103,0;+ES=1,0,1

We recommend copy and pasting the initialization strings to avoid typos.

I tried using the suggested Init String for my Intel modem. The Notepage32 software would not allow the string because it was too long.

The strings length should not be an issue. You may not be able to see the entire string in the display, but NotePager32 will use it, as the string is stored in the database.

1.) Click on the existing string so that is highlighted.
2.) Hit "Delete" on your keyboard.
3.) You should be able to paste the new string directly into the empty field.
4.) "Apply" the changes

When I enter the suggested string a box pops up and says "Run-time error '3163':
The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting lass data"

This is using both a manual typed in string or the copy and paste method suggested.

It seems that you are using the old NotePager32 (v. 2.6 or earlier).

I would recommend either downloading the latest NotePager32 or NotePager Pro.

NotePager Pro - http://www.notepage.net/download-notepager-pro.htm

NotePager32 - http://www.notepage.net/download.htm

You will be able to use those Init Strings in the latest versions, as the "Init String" field length in the database has increased.

I have tried the new strings with Notepager32 and Notepager Pro. Still doing the original problem. It connects and going through the entire process except for delivering the message, at which point it hangs up and redials.

Using NotePager Pro, let's get debugging information into your dialer log file.

While at the main NotePager Pro screen, hit <ctrl><alt><d> by holding down the 'ctrl' and 'alt' keys, and then pressing the 'd' key. You should get a message that detailed logging has been enabled.

After doing so, send a message using 1200 Baud and the string -AT&FQ0V1X4&D2+MS=V22,0;+ES=1,0,1

You can then e-mail the Dialer Log (npp.log) to forumsupport@notepage.com
