|
|
We have been using ver. 3.12 for a long time with no problems at all. Yesterday the get mail function started giving this error: Program Halted. Error #5 Invalid procedure call or argument in Procedure: check_for_messages. The Get Web and dialer are still working. Just don't get the message from Mdaemon. I can see the message come in to Mdaemon.
Also, the PGmonitor stays minimized. (I think a newer revison addressed this problem).
I have the original upgrade file for 3.12, should I try re-installing it, or get a newer 3.x version?
Thank you,
T.C. Allen

It sounds like there is a e-mail message file that "GetMail" is having trouble with the format of.
Please try the following steps to clear out the "bad" message which is causing GetMail's error.
1.) Open PageGate Admin on the PageGate Server machine
2.) Expand 'Interfaces' in PageGate Admin
3.) Right click on "GetMail"
4.) Select "Stop"
5.) Open Windows Explorer
6.) Browse to the "Mailin" directory (usually found in "C:\Program Files\PageGate")
7.) Find the oldest file with a ".msg" extension.
8.) Rename the file extension to ".old".
9.) Right click on "GetMail" in PageGate Admin
10.) Select "Start"
You do have an older PageGate version. PageGate version 4.0 has better SMTP message handling. I would seriously consider an upgrade to the latest. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have a mailin directory anywhere. I even serched for *.msg and the only files were in the bad message directory of Mdaemon.
The only directories I have in PageGate are: badmsg (all have .eng extensions), backup, and 3.12_update. I don't know where the messages are going when they come from Mdaemon unless it's the database.

I found the messages in Mdaemon\users\mailbox as *.raw files. I deleted all the messages from yesterday and earlier and that fixed the problem.
Thank you for steering me in the right direction.
