I have PageGate running on a Windows 2003 server. Occassionally, with no pattern, pages sent from the GetWeb interface are not being sent until the cleanup routine restarts at midnight. I have not been able to find a pattern as to when or why this happens. I checked the PageGate.log on the days where pages were sent after the services restarted and found that the previous day, the service was not started. I can see where the modules were stopped prior to the cleanup routine, but afterwards, all of the services do not restart. There is no error listed as to why. I set up the service to automatically restart after 1 minute if it fails, but this does not seem to help.

Just to clarify, is the problem you're running into that the GetWeb service doesn't always restart after the cleanup routine or it just randomly stops itself?

From what I can tell it does not restart. I have checked all of the event logs on the server and it does not look like the service is failing, it is simply not sent a command to restart.

That's a little odd. When the cleanup routine runs, it turns off all of the PageGate system services so it can do a database check and aftewards, it's supposed to resume the PageGate Service. The PageGate service then starts the Scheduler and then then Scheduler is what tells the other services to resume.

When this happens, is it all of the PageGate services that don't start back up or is it generally only the GetWeb service?

The only services that do not start regularly are the GetWeb and GetTap services.

Just to see what happens, I'd like you to do to the following:

1) Open the Control Panel.

2) Go to Administrative Tools.

3) Go to Services.

4) In the Services list, find the PageGate GetWeb service. Right click on it, go to Properties.

5) Go to the "Log on" tab.

6) Set the option to "This Account"

7) Enter an Administrative username and password.

8) Click on Apply.

9) Stop and Start the GetWeb service.

See if that prevents the issue you've been running into.

The service is already set to run as the administrator account.

I seemed to be having the same issue...I installed Page Gate as the local admin on a new Win2003 machine..and just now noticing the same things....all my getweb pages seemed to not be going through,,this morning i was having some complaints about people not getting pages so in my looking around in the server i manually restarted getweb and they all went through...i seemd to have a similar situation with getmail last week...but in rebooting the server fixed it so we'll see. I am trying the above and setting all pg services to Local Admin account logon privileges..

Thanks

At the risk of hijacking this thread... I will start a new thread if these issues are not related; just let me know...

We are also experiencing this problem with the dialer services (1 through 16).

The dialer services are stopped but the PageGate and Scheduler service remain running. The dialer services are manually individually started and then immediately die. They seem to stay running only after first stopping then starting the PageGate service. But will run only until the cleanup routine runs, when they are stopped, started, and stopped within a few seconds.

The scheduler queues up the incoming pager requests, but the dialers never start to send the page.

Additional information:
=> The dialers do not always synchronize the time with the scheduler [using local time].
=> The dialer services do not fail, they are automatically stopped.

The environment:
=> Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Service Pack 1 + several security updates
=> Dell PowerEdge 1950
=> Intel Xeon 2.8GHz
=> 2GB RAM
=> Member of an 2003 Active Directory Domain
