What's my alternative if I don't have a telephone modem or line?
I am on Cable broadband.(comcast.com)

Need to text Telecom mobile in NZ (27)

As far as we know, Telecom only supports the TAP protocol for accepting messages. The TAP protocol only works with a regular analog modem and phone line. You may want to give them a call and see if they have added support for any of the Internet based messaging protocols (i.e. SNPP, WCTP, SMTP).

vonage (search word on net) offers an analog phone line (2 I think0)
derived from broadband service. I saw one, connected phones to it.
phones pug into regular jack. I think it was 29.95 per month

Thanks Jim. That is a great idea. I do actually know of some people that use the Vonage Voice over IP setup with their regular modem to send text messages with out software.
