Type of Modems to use with Notepager Pro v3

Good Day,

Currently, we have a client who uses notpager pro and swears that he has to use an old external analog modem that connects slower than 56k. We have nothing but problems with that modem. I have a new pc and wish to install a new internal modem - 56k into it and set that up with Notepager. My question is: Can a new modem running at 56 k work fine with notepager or do you have to use the old external analog modems with a slower speed than 56 k?

Typically external RS232 modems have worked best. However, it has a lot to do with the carrier you are connecting to, and what kind of modems they have. Most modems work fine. 'Real' modems tend to be easier to get working than winmodems. External modems are usually the easiest (serial not USB). Typically most carriers only allow you to connect at 1200 baud, so a faster modem doesn't gain you anything.

In summary, most 56k modems will work fine. However, some carriers have very picky modems on their end that tend to work better with older/slower modems.
