I'm trying to use pagegate. I've tried 3 different modem and all of them give me the waiting for protocol or trying to reset modem error. I've tried many different Init string with no success. I loaded the demo notepager32 and the modem works fine with that.
Thanks for all suggestions

In NotePager 32, what init string did the program choose?
Also what modem (make and model) are you currently using? |

Diamond Supra express 56k SUP 2730, USRobotic Sportster 14400 Fax Modem and MultiTech MT5634ZBA. The string from Notepage32 was AT&F0Q0V1X4&D2&B1&K0&M0&N2 on all modems.
I used this same string in Pagegate.

Try using the USR.
Under 'Connectors' -> 'Dialer1' -> 'Settings' set the init string to auto
Under 'Carriers' -> '<yourcarrier>' -> 'Settings', blank out the init string
Make sure your settings in the carrier are:
1200 baud
even parity
7 data bits
1 stop bit
Try sending a test. If it doesn't work try
1200 baud
no parity
8 data bits
1 stop bit
Also, on the carrier screen make sure the protocol is set to TAP.
If you still have trouble, please post the carrier you are trying to connect to, and the phone number you are using to call them. |

Sorry, nothing worked. I even reloaded the entire application. I also can send from Hyperterminal with no problem to pagenet.

That is very strange.
Here is how to turn on detailed logging in the dialer logs. It may give us some insight into what is happending.
Create a file named 'modem.dbg' in your PageGate program folder (typically c:\program files\pagegate\). Make sure Windows doesn't add any extensions beyond the .dbg, like Windows has a habit of doing.
Stop and Restart PageGate.
Now if you look in your dialer logs, there should be more detail. Can you post a delivery session back here? |

Let's try connecting slower:
Set the baud rate in the carrier screen to 300
Set the parity to even
Set the data bits to 7
In the init string change the &N2 to a &N1 |

We must be missing something obvious. I would recommend you call our tech support department on Monday, and they will be able to help you. |
