I am getting the following message when I try to open my NotePage Pro. The problem just started and I haven't done anything new to my system, Windows XP. The complete error reads: Fatal Database Error: 3343 Unrecognized database format. 'C:\Program Files\NotePagerPro\npp.mdb' in Procedure: main Program Halted

What can I do to resolve this? If I have to reinstall is there a way to access the system to back up my data first? Thanks for your time and advise.

It sounds like you database has somehow become corrupt. This can be caused by system lockups, power outages/spikes, unclean shutdowns, hardware failures, etc. There is a database rebuild utility provided with NotePager Pro that can fix most problems. In the NotePager Pro program folder (c:\program files\notepager pro - by default), run the program named jetcomp.exe. It will attempt to read the data from one database and put it into a new 'fixed' database. The source database should be NotePager Pro database file (npp.mdb). The destination database can be anything you want. If Jetcomp is successful, then you will want to rename the current (bad) database (npp.mdb) to something new like npp.mdb.bad. You will then need to rename the new database file to npp.mdb.

If Jetcomp can't repair the database, then you will have to revert to a backup you have made earlier, or start over. You can start with a blank database by simple deleting or renaming the NotePager Pro database (npp.mdb). NotePager Pro will recreate a blank one when it is started.

I think I got something similar when I tried to open the database file from Access. I found out that the reason was:

My version of access was old and I needed Access 2000 + (from memory Jet 4.0)

Once I installed Access 2003 everything was fine. I hope I am on the right tracks - if not sorry!
