|
|
Just this past week we have not been able to send text messages to any of our cingular phones. We are using pagegate version 4.0 and running it on 2003 small buisness server. We have a tz170 sonicwall firewall. I have been able to email the phones through a public email account. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is a copy of our log file:

What settings do you currently have under the Connectors - Global - SMTP section of the PageGate Admin? |

There's a test I'd like you to run, it'll let us know if port 25 is open or closed on your network. Basically, it'll let us know if you do or don't need to have "Relay All Mail" checked.
1) Go to Start - Run.
2) Type the following and hit enter: command
3) When the command prompt comes up, type the following and hit enter:
telnet mx.mycingular.net 25
If port 25 is open, it'll come back with a "220" response. If port 25 is closed, it'll tell you that a connection could not be established. |

I ran that check to see if port 25 is open and it was not. I checked the relay all mail and tried again and was unsuccessful. I called cox communications and they told me that they did not close any ports on the their end. I checked my firewall and I am not blocking port 25. I have tried to disable the gateway antivirus and the mcafee antivirus on my server to see if they were blocking port 25 and that did not work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry it was the mcafee virus scan. I disabled it and it worked. Thanks for your help on checking port 25.

No worries, I'm glad you could get it to work. What you may want to do, however, is to go into the settings of your McAfee Virus Scan and disable the option that blocks port 25 on the system instead of disabling the Virus scan altogether. |
