We have (2) servers handling SMTP and SNPP messages currently, a primary and a secondary. SMTP failover is no problem due to multiple MX records with preferences. Does anyone have any recommendations for load balancing and/or failover for SNPP? Does NotePage make a product to help with this support? If not, I suppose I will need a switch or some other device capable of server load balancing. If I go that route, what options exist for me to know when one of the servers has failed? What about a specific services (if SNPP stops on one system for example)?

Thanks!

It's a bit beyond our control because it goes beyond the failover capacity of the software but I didn't want to just leave the topic unanswered, so I double checked with developement to get a few opinions.

Unfortunately, we don't have a good answer for that. It would somehow have to be handled by a router, or a similar device, that could round robin the incoming requests to the two servers, or ever better, detect if the service is down on one, and transfer all traffic to the other. However, we're not really familiar with anything that would do that.

Thanks for your response. I will continue my own research and post any results I come up with.
