Hello,
My company was successfully using What's Up Pro (from IPSwitch) to send text messages via a modem / TAP to our nextel phones. At some point it stopped working, and I'm trying to figure out why.
Everything appears to work fine. I can send text messages to the phones either via the sprint website, or by smtp. TAP is the only thing that doesn't work.
I've been told by Nextel customer service that my plan supports this service. My modem dials, connects, and appears to successfully send the message. It just never reaches my phone. A log of the process is below (with the last bit of my phone number X'd out; don't want any prank calls!):
Loading action parameters for 'Page Justin'.
Executing action 'Page Justin'.

Received terminal disconnect command - EOT
Got EOT at tickcount=480096640

Pager Action was successful.
Action finished.
So, what are my options? I've asked to triple-verify we have "Third party messaging" on our Nextel accounts. Is there any other way I can test TAP, outside of What's Up? I downloaded PageGate but found the interface non-intuitive, and can't tell if it will let me sent a message without registering or not.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Justin

I can't diagnose your competing packages log but here's 2 clues:
1) It appears that your package is doing some sort of serializing messages in it's communications session with the TAP terminal
2) It also looks like you may be using a no longer supported TAP modem number. All nextel terminals have a TAP interface associated with them. The number is NPA-NXX-6683 (NOTE) where NPA-NXX = area code and prefix of the NexTel device you are attempting to reach._________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Thanks for the reply.
The number I was using is 800-201-2501, as listed here:
http://www.notepage.net/tap-phone-numbers-n.htm
Looks like that page needs to be updated. Anyway, I'll try the new number and post my results. Thanks again!

Ok, it works. I successfully tested TAP using HyperTerm, following the instructions here:
http://www.icepirate.com/nextel/paging/
So, my problem lies elsewhere... Thanks for the prompt reply.

Perhaps you'd consider replacing your current package with one that is virtually bullet proof - like, oh I don't know,,,,,PageGate?
Sorry - I couldn't resist!_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Unfortunately I didn't purchase the software being used... I just get to make it work now!
Wish me luck...
