|
|
My client complains that sending text to Ameritech pagers via SNPP is not reliable. They told me that sometimes they didn't recevie the message, even though the status in PageGate said that it had sent out.
I am using "snpp.acswireless.com" address.
Is "snpp.americanmessaging.net more reliable?
Also is sending messages via modem more reliable than via SNPP?
Thanks!

snpp.americanmessaging.net is generally the more reliable of the two hosts in terms of message delivery and connectivity.
As for sending messages via modem vs SNPP, the reliability for both is approximately the same. SNPP is the most reliable of the online protocols and TAP is generally always rock solid when the company supports their terminals.

Thank you for your reply.
How about between "snpp.acswireless.com" and "snpp.sbc.com"?
I found that "snpp.americanmessaging.net" doesn't work for our Ameritech pagers....

Unfortunately, snpp.sbc.com isn't very reliable at all.
Not to ask a silly question but if you're using Ameritch pagers, why wouldn't they go through snpp.americanmessaging.net since Ameritech is now American Messaging?
Unless you're using SBC pagers, in which case the snpp.americanmessaging.net won't work for you because it's only for the US pagers.

Our pagers are all American Messaging formally SBC.
So we can use "snpp.americanmessaging.net', right? (double-check ^^)
I will test several more paging using this address, and change the carrier address.
One more question is if pager frequency can cause reliability difference?
One group of our pagers uses 153 freq. And the other uses 931 freq.
Only the group using 153 freq complains about the reliability.

You should be able to use the snpp.americanmessaging.net host without any problems, since the pagers are all hosted through American Messaging.
As for your second question about frequency, I really don't know. I haven't heard of anything from the carriers but you may want to ask the carriers directly about that.
