|
|
Hello,
We have been changing our e-mail infrastructure and I am now having some problems with Pagegate relaying mail via SNMP.
The error logs show that the e-mail is being denied at our Exchange server gateway due to a invalid username. It appears that the 'Mail From' field changes based on the e-mail?
Is there a way I can set the 'Mail From' to a specific e-mail account? I need to be able to set this to a valid account on our mail server.
Sincerely,
Andy Bradley

Here is the error log I am receiving now:

If you go into the Connectors - Global - SMTP section, you should see a space for postmaster. You can set the postmaster to a valid email address that PageGate can default to if invalid information for the SMTP protocol is entered into the Sender's Information.

I have set the postmaster to a vaild account previously and just verified that it is set correctly.
This error above occurs when I set a recipient to forward a copy to their external (non-pagegate) e-mail address.
It appears that the forward is not using the postmaster address as the from in the SMTP request?

Can anyone verify the Postmaster address is the sender address in their SMTP request?
I really need to get this relay working with our Exchange setup and this sender address issue is the only thing not working.
Thanks,
Andy Bradley

It entirely depends on how the message is generated.
If the messages are being generated by the GUI Client, the information under File - Setup in the Sender's Name field is what's used.
If the messages are being generated by the GetAscii interface, you can set it to a static Sender or you can have it pick up the Sender's information dynamically based on the file.
How are your messages being generated?

Got it working - I am using a combination of different interfaces.
The one that was giving me trouble was using the PageGate as a SMTP relay. I would point my SMTP alarm generation software to PageGate and configure a reciepient. Then send a SMTP message to PageGate and have the reciepient set as email only and then PageGate would send SMTP out to our Exchange server.
I now have this working with the help here.
Thanks,
Andy
