I need to create an ASP script that outputs text equivalent to the RECIPIENTS export in the PageGate Admin Database Export Tool.

I noticed a default user looks like:

"401","amartone","Aaron Martone","1231234","Daves_Communications","","120",#FALSE#,"999",#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,"0",#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,"",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","",#FALSE#,"10:00:00 PM","8:00:00 AM"

Is there any documentation that I can read to know what each one of those field values corresponds to in the PageGate tool?

I will make an ASP script that reads our Database, outputs the data, and I will cut and paste that into a .txt file and import it into the system.

Your best bet is to use the 'Recipients & Groups (simplified)' import option. It was written to make situations like this easier. Most of the data in the import/export files aren't typically used.

This format of this files is:
"<recipient>","<full name>","<pin number>","<carrier>",<group>

<recipient> = unique one-word recipient name without spaces or special characters (_ and - are ok)

<full name> = longer descriptive recipient name, most special characters are ok

<pin number> = id or pin number for the pager

<carrier> = name of existing carrier setup in PageGate

<group> = true/false field if this entry is a group instead of a recipient

Example:
"jdoe","John Doe","7815551212","arch",#FALSE#

Please let us know if you need the full import format for any reason.

OK, I tried to use the values in this message but when I tried to import them I was told that there were no valid resepients. I've got a file with these type of records:

"Michael.Westman", "Michael Westman", "4348","Sarpy",#FALSE#

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Mike

Can you please email forumsupport@notepage.com with the file you are trying to import attached. We will try to reproduce the problem, and get you a solution.

I will try to track down the file. It might be helpful if you could resend it too. Sorry.

Hi Mike. Nothing has come into that mailbox. Can you please double-check your spelling of the addres and try sending it again. I sent a couple of test emails the make sure the account is working ok.

Sorry this took so long to resolve.

The file you sent me is missing the Carrier field. Your previous posted example is correct, but the file isn't.

Also when you import, make sure you choose the LAST import option: 'Recipients & Groups (simplified)'
