I own a restaurant and want to use your software to send coupons, offers and specials to my customers.
Do I have to set up a different carrier for every cell phone company represented by my client base?
Is there an easier way to collect this information from my customers?
Is there a way to have them send a text message to a specific address that will automatically sign them up? |

Yes, you do have to set up a new varrier for each cel phone company in your client base.
I'm not sure how you collect the information currently, so I can't speak as to whether there is an easier way to do it or not.
There's no easy way to have them send a text message to a specific address and have it automatically sign them up. There are conceivable ways to do it but nothing that can be automated from within the program as it is. You would need a a custom solution, a custom program to take the incoming data and add it directly to PageGate's Database. |

You give multiple choices for some carriers. How do you know which one to use? |

From an observational standpoint, here is how I would choose which protocol and configuration to go with:
1) SNPP - The fastest and most reliable online SMS protocol.
2) WCTP - A close second to SNPP but not widely supported.
3) SMTP - The fallback of the online protocols. Some carriers just don't support the other two online protocols and you have to use SMTP.
TAP is, of course, a protocol unto itself. If you can get your modem to communicate with the TAP Terminal and either want or need to use a modem to deliver your pages (instead of online), use TAP. It's not quite as fast in the data transmission as SNPP or WCTP but it's just as reliable. |
