We are using the dtmf interface on our system. Our messaging 2000 v-mail is doing a message notification outbound to "400,,4344" where 400 is the ext answered by pagegate dtmf interface, a couple pauses and then sending 4344 thru to the ascii interface. That all works great.

Untill.....We are in the process of changing over to a nortel system for both phone and v-mail. I though it would be seamless, but I thought wrong. I can get the v-mail noticiation to hit the modem on page gate but can not get the string to come across correctly. Right now the v-mail is suppose to be sending a string of 4344 but ascii is receiving 44334444.

Any ideas. Tim @ Scarborough PD

Hi Tim,

Sounds like the new Nortel VM system is using NON-Standard ASCII coding - I would start with the vendor to see if there is a user defined variable. If that doesn't work, you may be able to re-configutr your PageGate and DTMF module to look for the new string (basically look for 443344 instead of 4344) - does the new string remain constant for each VMB?

Aaron,

I did think of that 44334444, but thats not a very clean solution. The Nortel vendor says they have a solution in mind but I have not seen it yet. I will let even one know what happens with this.

Thanks, Tim
