Pages through our PageGate server stopped going out today. Stopping and restarting Pagegate did not fix. When I look into it PageGate Admin and the logs everything looks fine except it looks like messages are getting qued in the scheduler but not being passed from the scheduler to the dialer #1. We are only using the one dialer in our configuration becuase we are only sending pages over the internet and not using dialup for security reasons. In PG Monitor everything is up except for dialer #1 is in red. Yet in PG Admin it shows dialer #1 as running. I got PageGate to work again by disableing dialer #1 and enabled dialer #2. I'm waiting till I can do a scheduled reboot of the server PageGate runs on where the Dialer 1 srevice will be deleted before I try to switch back. Any idea why this may have happened and what can I do to prevent it from happening again?

I don't know why this happened.

You mentioned that the Dialer module showed up red in the PG Monitor but the PG Admin said it was running, I've seen that before and it's generally just a conflict in Windows that causes the dialer module to lock lik ethat. Unfortunately, the only way to really make it behave again is to either do what you did or reboot the system.

I've seen this issue and while a reboot will resolve it - I understand that it is often not easy to reboot due to other applications on the server. Another way to fix it is through Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL). Simply go to the processes tab and find PGDial1. Highlight that process and click on end process. Shortly after Windows ends the service - PageGate server recognizes that a licensed module is not running and will start it again.

You are right about stopping the process, except you need to download the kill command and add it to your path. Other wise you can't stop the process from taskmanager or services in the mmc. "kill pgdial1" is the command you will use. Good tip!
