I am evaluating the PageGate software to use as our gateway for our paging company. I have installed the trial version on a test server and seen the various capabilities that it offers. However, I want to make sure that we are able to do everything we need before buying.
Our scenario:
Pages sent to PageGate will be coming from various sources:
- Our web site. Through our website front page, users can enter the device PIN and message to send a page (using the Getweb interface)
- Via Email. Users can send an email to <PIN>@ourpagingdomain.com to send a page (using the Getmail interface)
- Via Modem. Users can connect via dialup to send a page (using the Gettap interface)
Each of these methods will generate a paging message to be sent to our paging terminal via TAP using a direct serial connection. I already tried this and it works perfectly.
For some particular recipients, these messages should ALSO be sent out to an external email address. For example: a paging message sent to recipient 1111111 will be sent only to the paging terminal while a message sent to recipient 2222222 will be sent to the paging terminal as well as the john@hotmail.com email address.
What is the best way to configure this using ad-hoc whenever possible? I know this scenario is easy to configure when all recipients are named, but we have a lot of users, so that's why we want to use ad-hoc as much as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Everything you want to do can be done with the exception of forwarding email. If you had a static list of recipients, you could forward email but there's just not a way to set it up with ad-hoc recipients.

I see. Knowing that the data store for the application is MS Access, could I then mass-insert all our 3000+ pagers as static recipients into the pagegate database using SQL queries (assuming, of course, that we have purchased an appropriate number of licenses)?

Right, you could do that. If you would, send an email to support@notepage.com so I can send you the integration information about how to do it.
