Hello,
I installed WebGate excitingly. Then I configured Dialer1 with "Direct Connect" in order to use cable modem connection. Then I added Carrier with T-mobile and recipient as my cell phone.
The log is the following: It kept "waiting for protocol initialization".
I am sure that I miss somthing and doing wrong. Would anyone give me HELP please?
(FYI I have a router)

Sorry. I misunderstood the direct connect.
Can I use internet connection for Dialer instead of modem?

Yes, you can. Based on what I saw in the log you posted, you're trying to send messages to a T-Mobile device or devices. T-Mobile only suppors the online protocol SMTP, so here's what you'll want to do:
1) In the PageGate Admin, go to the Connectors section.
2) In the connectors section, go to Global and under Global go to SMTP.
3) In the Local Domain section, you'd want to input the latter part of your email address.
4) Leave PostMaster blank.
5) For the next section, you may need to contact your network administrator if you're not sure what to do here. Basically, you need to know if you have to relay all of your email through a local server of if you can deliver mail through your DNS. If you can deliver your mail through DNS, find out what your primary and secondary DNS entries are and enter those into DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2. If you have to use a relay, make sure to put the check mark next to Relay All Mail, then enter in the relay server you were given into the Relay Server box.
6) Click on Apply.
7) Once you've done that, simply right click on Carriers, left click on Add.
8) Name the Carrier SMTP.
9) Set the protocol to SMTP and click on Apply.
That'll set up a carrier using the SMTP protocol on your copy of PageGate. Now, to migrate recipients over to this new carrier, here's what you'll want to do:
1) Find the Recipient in the Recipients list and go into the Settings section underneath that recipient.
2) Change the carrier to SMTP.
3) When you do that, the ID/PIN section will change to an Email to: section. In order to know what to enter here, I recommend visiting this section of our website: http://www.notepage.net/smtp.htm
The information you'll enter into the Email To: Field is actually based on the carrier. For example, if you have someone who's using T-Mobile, you would enter in their 10digitphonenumber@tmomail.net
Hope this helps and if you have any difficulty, please let us know.

Thank you so much!
I have one more question. My boss asked me to add more recipients who have Ameritech pagers and phones.
Does Ameritech support modem or online protocol SMTP? If they support modem, what is the TAP number and init string? I tried a couple of TAP numbers on the list. I think that 312-514-9243 should work.
Thanks in advance.

One more. ^^
I installed WebGate. Does WebGate support SMTP? I can't find SMTP under Connectors > Global category.

Ameritech supports the TAP, SNPP, and SMTP protocols. Personally, I'd recommend using the SNPP Protocol (their host settings can be found here: http://www.notepage.net/snpp.htm) as it's faster than TAP and more reliable than SMTP.
As for your second question, WebGate does support the SMTP Protocol but the settings are a bit different than PageGate. If I could make a recommendation, though, try PageGate. PageGate is kind of like WebGate on steroids, which is to say that there isn't anything WebGate can do that PageGate can't and PageGate's a bit more customizeable and can do more.

Thank you!
The SMTP worked perfectly! I will try with SNPP.
Now I have to show the web interface of PageGate on the IIS server to my boss. And I followed the detail and kind steps and could submit it. However my pager didn't get the message.
Does the trial version not support the web interface?
Thanks in advance!!

Sorry.. Would you guide how to set up SNPP? I can't find it from manual.
Thanks!

The trial version does support the web interface. You mentioned that the page was submitted but the pager never received it. What I'd like you to do is open the PageGate Monitor. After you've done that, submit the page through the web interface again and see if a number shows up next to Pending or if it's showing anything in the Good or Bad columns next to GetWeb.
