I've installed NotePager Pro on a computer running Windows 2000 connected to a network. There are several users set up on this computer. Two users connect to a server and have no problem using NotePager, two users do not connect to the server but are connected to the network. One of the users (the user that I installed the software as who has administrative rights) has no problems using the software but the other user who only has user privileges cannot use the software. Whenever I try to open the software when logged on as that user I receive the "Fatal database error: 3051 The MS Jet database engine cannot open the file c:\ProgramFiles\NotePager Pro\npp.mdb' It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. in procedure: main Program Halted." I have added this user to NotePager (through Properties-Security) and given her permission to do everything but I still get the error. What am I overlooking?

I just installed Pro on WinXP and have the same problem. My admin account can run it. All users accounts cannot. It appears to install for all users (desktop icon only shows up on the admin account, but it is in Start->Programs for everyone).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

This is a directory/files permissions issue. Users need to be able to write to both the directory and the database.

In Windows XP, the Security Tab is not available by default. You will
need to display the "Security" tab in order to proceed with steps 5
through 11.

To display the "Security" tab (XP only):

1) Open 'Control Panel'
2) Select 'Folder Options'
3) On the 'View' tab, under "Advanced settings", clear (uncheck) "Use
simple file sharing [Recommended]".
4) "Apply"

(Both XP and 2000)

5) Open Windows Explorer
6) Expand C:\Program Files\
7) Right click on NotePager Pro folder
8) Select the "Security" tab
9) Select "Users" from the "Group or user names" options (window)
10) Select "Full Control" under the "Permissions for Users" options (window)
11) "Apply"
