Hello. We are attempting to set up Page Gate for evaluation. We have been given a 30 day trial reg key, and all has gone well up to this point. However, now that we are attempting to send a test page, the following happens:

10/9/2003 12:11:50 PM Start connection to carrier: Metrocall
10/9/2003 12:11:50 PM Connect using TAP protocol
10/9/2003 12:11:50 PM Setting communication parameters
10/9/2003 12:11:50 PM Attempting to reset modem
10/9/2003 12:11:53 PM Modem reset
10/9/2003 12:11:53 PM Attempting to send dialer init string
10/9/2003 12:11:55 PM Dialer init string sent
10/9/2003 12:11:55 PM Dialing carrier
10/9/2003 12:12:03 PM Waiting for connection
10/9/2003 12:12:03 PM Attempting to hang up modem
10/9/2003 12:12:06 PM Modem hung up
10/9/2003 12:12:06 PM Carrier retry limit reached. Marking pending messages as bad
10/9/2003 12:12:06 PM FAILED Stn:10 To:reid_stephanie Frm:ngilmore Msg:this is a test

I set the init string to auto in the Dialer and it sets itself to a particular string after it dials, so I think that is OK. I'm not sure what to try next. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

I notice in the dialer log that the time for 'Waiting for connection' and 'Attempting to hang up modem' are the same. The only way it would fail that quickly is if the modem is not getting a dial tone, or is getting a busy signal. Check your modem's phone line, and be sure that you are dialing all necessary digits to make the connection (i.e. '9' for an outside line, '1' for long distance, area codes, etc.)
