Well, it really depends on the Carrier as to how you can send the cel phone a message. Take Verizon for example. They support the dialing protocol TAP but the only online protocol they support is SMTP, so you would have to use the SMTP protocol to send a Verizon cel phone an SMS message over the internet is SMTP.
So, which carrier are you trying to configure NotePager Pro for?

Well, if you go here:
http://www.notepager.com/support.htm
You'll see the first four options on that page are a listing of TAP Terminal numbers, SNPP, WCTP, and SMTP Settings. All you need to do is look through each list for the carrier you're interested in (in this case Nextel).
Since Nextel supports the SNPP Protocol, I'd recommend configuring your Nextel Carrier in NotePager Pro to use the SNPP protocol with the host pecos.nextel.com
