Hi,

I received a complaining from Sprint Nextel users.
From yesterday, the message has "SNPPRcv" before every page and the 2nd 1/2 of the message never is received ....

For example,
The original message was sent out is
"this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test...."

And the received one in Sprint BlackBerry is
"SNPPRcv this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a test....this is a "

And the rest of the message was cut off.

We have not changed anything in PageGate application.
Does anyone of you have the same problem?

Thank you.

We found out that the prefix was actually being added by Nextel. The prefix didn't appear in the sending or transmission logs, so it wasn't being sent from PageGate at all.

Thank you for the reply.

Does Nextel cut off the messages, too?

It didn't cut off the message until the day before yesterday.
From yesterday, it suddenly cut off the messages...

You should use PageGate's packetizingf function:

1) Set the NexTel CARRIER to 160 characters
2) Set the recipient to higher (EX: 240)

When PageGate processes a message for that recipient, it will split the message into multiple packets, each no longer than whatever is set at the CARRIER level. It will also prefix the message with 1 of 2, 2 of 2, and so on

From the messaging GURU at Sprint/NexTel Engineering:

"We moved the SNPP gateways to a new platform early this week.

One-Way SMS users will notice that messages are now preceded with the gateway identifier "SNPPRcv" at the beginning of each message and that long messages are now cut off at 132 characters.

This will be a permanent change unless there is a great enough demand from the user base to change the configuration back to what we had before. User's experiencing truncated messages due to this change should report the issue to our care group, they can log the complaint but there will be no immediate resolution.

Customers experiencing lost or delayed messages through the SNPP gateways should report the problem immediately. We changed our gateways and have been monitoring them for any abnormalities due to the conversion. We hope we did not miss anything but no matter what we do for stress testing the customers always mange to ferret out something we missed."
