We have one customer site were their PageGate database has grown to almost 1GB. I find I can no longer compress and repair the database. periodically PageGate stops functioning and the pending number of pages shows more than 1 million. If I stop all the PageGate services and delete all the queued pages then PageGate can be restarted and will again function properly.

Isn't the database supposed to automatically trim off old data every night? It appears to be set to do so.

Best regards,

Does this customer have a large number of repeating messages with no end date? ALso - are they archiving the logs?

If you have MS Access, what you may want to do is open the pagegate.mdb file in Access, then go into the messages table and delete the contents of it. Don't delete the actual table, just the contents of the messages table, then compact and repair.

It's possible that the program hasn't been clearing old messages from the database.

You wrote "periodically PageGate stops functioning and the pending number of pages shows more than 1 million" - that indicates to me that you hace somehow created a "looping message" - this is typically caused by groups being members of each other (EXAMPLE: Group A is a member of Group B, AND Group B is a member of Group A - when a message is sent to either group, the system keeps copying it back and forth until something breaks)
