I am using Solarwinds monitoring tools and would like to set up an SMS alert for a critical node... I am using TAP with and internal modem... My modem has been tested and is operational, and I am able to dial out... I have tried the TAP numbers listed on the Notepager Pro website and am not able to get a connection... I would also like to verify that I am using the correct PIN ... I am using the 7 digit number, number less the area code...

At this point I am not receiving an error on the PIN... I am pasting the dialer log in response, it appears that the protocol is failing to initialize... I have tried 3 numbers, I chose this one because it uses a 7 character pin and there are 6 membners of my team who will be alerted do to an outage...

If you're trying to get a message through to a Verizon device, try using this TAP number: 18668230501

Oh, no wonder. The carrier needs to be set up with 1200 baud, even parity, 7 data bits, and 1 stop bit as that's the settings the terminal is expecting to receive. Be sure to reset the init string to (auto) after you make those changes as your current init string is formatted for the wrong settings.

I made the change to set the Baud to 1200 7 E 1 ... And am still getting a waiting for protocol init ... HEre is the response after I receive the waiting for protocol init

5/7/2008 2:49:37 PM Waiting for protocol initialization
5/7/2008 2:49:41 PM Received:<CR><LF>NO CARRIER<CR><LF>

The Verizon website says to configure a wait to connect of 60 ... Currently researching a wait to connect setting... If you are familiar with this setting it would be greatly appreciated if you could point me in the right direction....

Douible check with your VZW rep to ensure that that particular BlacBerry device has been configured properly in the TAP BES interface on their end
