When I upgrade the software from 505 to 506, will that convert my existing database (recipients and groups) to the the 506 format?
Im Running 505 on my main system, and I exported the data. I tried importing the data onto another PC running the 506 version and the data would not import.
The database structure is different.

I don't think so. I know we added database modifications from 501 to 503 and 503 to 505 but I'm pretty sure we didn't make any database modifications from 505 to 506. |

well, my 505 database does not import into 506. could it be because my export has "505" in the first column?
In a previous post, the export format is different than the current 506 data format (i learned that the hard way)

Wait, if you're updating, why are you using the export function? It's easier just to keep the database intact and run the installation for 506. The next time you run the PageGate Admin, it should auto-update what needs to be updated in the "old" database. |

Thats what I was originally asking, So just do the install over the old version and the database will be updated automatically?
Thanks for your help
Happy Holidays!

Oh, right. I'm sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. |

And then you get to go touch all 5-gazillion client computers to update them so they are compatible with the new database structure.... Grrrrr... :(
