Does anyone know the TAP# for Cricket Comfortable Wireless?
I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find Cricket's TAP number anywhere. I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give me.

Sincerely,

Wm. Ian Thomas

I don't have anything currently. Do you have an address for their website. I can try doing a little poking around if I have a little more to go on.

I have come up empty. It doesn't even appear that they support email to their phones.

Maybe someone else will come up with something.

I just spoke with the flunkie at Cricket Tech Support and he says that it might happen this year. Until then, the only way to send a text message to a cricket phone it through thier website.

Cricket or Kicket will never support TAP. It is an old format which is being phased out by most carriers. I nknow this because I used to work for them!

Can you tell us if Cricket has plans to support either SNPP or WCTP? We hear often from customers that even though the TAP protocol is older it is reliable and great for failover in the event their Internet connection is down. In fact many of our public safety customers use TAP as their primary delivery method for this reason.

Just SMTP, SMPP will never happen! Most customers just use this for voice service.

That is too bad, because SMTP is not designed to be time sensitive. We find that the majority of our customers are using text messaging for urgent situations and time is critical.

SNPP, WCTP and TAP are all designed with that in mind. SMTP can be delayed depending on the routing of the email, making it a far less reliable protocol for text messaging.

I recently signed up for Cricket (mycricket.com), but my company currently does not support it & requires the modem number for it create the paging.

Can anyone help find it? The last update I found was from 2004.

Unfortunately, Cricket Wireless never started supporting the TAP protocol. As far as I'm aware, they still only support the SMTP protocol.

Thank You!

Did you mean text msg can be sent via,
phonenumber@mms.mycricket.com

I tried it but never received on my phone. Any thoughts?

Could you explain what a TAP is or refer a good source of info for the different types of commonly used protocols? I'm hearing different stories from different people & they're all confusing.

Cricket Wireless only supports the SMTP protocol. They don't host any TAP Terminals, nor do they host a WCTP or SNPP host. SMTP is the only way, short of using direct cel phone SMS via GSM, to message a Cricket phone.

If you're sending messages to 10digitcelnumber@mms.mycricket.com and the cel phone isn't receiving the messages, you may want to contact Cricket and ask if the SMS feature of your phone has been fully enabled.
