I was wondering if PageGate can distinguish between different types of TAP failures. Specifically, I'd like to be able to just fail messages that return "Bad ID or message content" errors, and allow others to failover. Any ideas ? Thanks !!

PageGate can distinguish between different types of TAP failures. For example, a message that is rejected because of a bad PIN number isn't retried (what would be the sense?), where failures for other reasons are retried.
The problem with not failing over just because of a bad PIN number is that many customers use the failover feature to send the message to a different device or different recipient. Also a PIN failure can be due to a terminal being down, where another protocol (i.e. SMTP, SNPP, or WCTP) which connects to a different gateway/terminal will still be able to deliver the message.
I understand what you are saying, but we have determined that in most cases it is best to let it failover. |
