My customer used the ASCII interface to send Alarms from his SCADA via dialup to Pager or SMS. Now he will send the Alarms also to a Mailaddress (via Dialup). Is it possible? and how can I do that?

Sure, I don't see why not. The GetAscii module just references the recipient name. As long as the recipient is configured send to an Email address instead of an ID/PIN.

To set up an SMTP carrier in PageGate, you'd want to do the following:

1) In the PageGate Admin, go to the Connectors section.

2) In the connectors section, go to Global and under Global go to SMTP.

3) In the Local Domain section, you'd want to input the latter part of your email address.

4) Leave PostMaster blank.

5) For the next section, you may need to contact your network administrator if you're not sure what to do here. Basically, you need to know if you have to relay all of your email through a local server of if you can deliver mail through your DNS. If you can deliver your mail through DNS, find out what your primary and secondary DNS entries are and enter those into DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2. If you have to use a relay, make sure to put the check mark next to Relay All Mail, then enter in the relay server you were given into the Relay Server box.

6) Click on Apply.

7) Once you've done that, simply right click on Carriers, left click on Add.

8) Name the Carrier SMTP.

9) Set the protocol to SMTP and click on Apply.

That'll set up a carrier using the SMTP protocol on your copy of PageGate. Now, to migrate recipients over to this new carrier, here's what you'll want to do:

1) Find the Recipient in the Recipients list and go into the Settings section underneath that recipient.

2) Change the carrier to SMTP.

3) When you do that, the ID/PIN section will change to an Email to: section. In order to know what to enter here, I recommend visiting this section of our website:

http://www.notepage.net/smtp.htm

The information you'll enter into the Email To: Field is actually based on the carrier. For example, if you have someone who's using an Alltel phone, you would enter their 10digitphonenumber@alltelmessage.com As another example, if you had a recipient that was using Verizon, it would be their 10digitphonenumber@vtext.com

Hope this helps and if you have any difficulty, please let me know.
