I've tried a few options to run this PageGate as a service w/o success.
The environment is:
Windows 2000 SP3 - latest updates etc.
PageGate 4.0

Suggestions please. I would like to able to monitor the service without RDP'ing into the server.

Thanks

If PageGate's database is on the same physical computer as the PageGate program, then switching to a service should be fairly easy.

1. Get PageGate up and running as an application
2. Make sure PageGate is running when you try to switch it to a service
3. Go into PG Admin
4. Go to 'Program' -> 'Settings'
5. Choose the option to run PageGate as a service and hit 'Apply'
6. When PG Admin asks for credentials, leave both fields blank
7. PageGate should swith run styles to a system service.

If PageGate's database is on a different computer than the program, then you will first need to create a user account in your domain that has both local admin rights and 'run as a service' rights (administrators do not get this right by default). Then use this new account's info when PageGate prompts for the user account and password. You will probably need to also provide the domain name in the account field.

Example:

<domain>\<user>

where <domain> is the name of the NT domain and <user> is the username for the new account you just setup with both admin and 'run as service' rights.
