Hi,

Your company offers several different products and I'm confused on which to purchase. We are a hosting provider and there's several remote probes on different networks in North America that monitors web services. If a service goes down (smtp, etc), an automated internet email message is sent to an email address that gets forwarded to cell phones. The cell provider used to do email2sms conversion but has since changed their policy to get more revenue. Instead of the sms message showing up on the phone, there's now a message that says "You have a message waiting, please hit reply to see the message" for each incoming email message. Of course, when you hit reply, you get charged for each one.

I need a product that will basically do the above process before the cell provider changed. If it does do it, which product? We will not be using modems, everything will be relayed through the internet.

PageGate can take input from any of the following interfaces: Email, Commandline/Ascii, Web, Serial Ports, TAP-In and GUI Client.

PageGate, network paging software, enables text messages to be sent from your server, via Internet protocols SNPP, WCTP, SMTP and modem protocols TAP, GSM, UCP, TONE to cell phones, pagers and email address.

Advanced capabilities are redundant outbound connections and message rerouting on failure.

Download a free evaluation of PageGate at http://www.notepage.net/software.htm

Hi,

I installed PageGate and configured everything.

In PGAdmin, under Carriers, I configured it for Rogers.
Looking at the Carrier Support Area for Rogers at http://www.notepage.net/support.htm, the only support is SMTP (Rogers Canada 10digitphonenumber@pcs.rogers.com)

In the recipients area, I setup a profile and to email to: 10digitphonenumber@pcs.rogers.com (which is my phone number).

Then I right click on Recipients and drop down to Send Message.

I got the message on the cell phone but it had the same default message, "You have mail. Reply with "Read" to read your message".

Here are the logs:

PageGate delivers the message to Rogers' SMTP server, and it is accepting the message.

12/6/2004 4:14:57 PM Received:250 2.6.0 Mail accepted, queue ID m1CbSpb-00ySYfC

Your phone is displaying something in response to a message delivered by PageGate.

The message that your phone is displaying ("You have mail. Reply with "Read" to read your message". ) is either being generated by Rogers or your device.

You should refer to your cell phone instructions on how to display email / SMTP messages or contact Rogers for assistance.
